Abstract
437,527. Locks. FUTRAN, S., 40, Alexanderstrasse, Berlin. May 4, 1934, No. 13511. Convention date, Dec. 27, 1933. [Class 44] A locking mechanism has a number of rotatable locking elements which have two unlocking positions ; one is the final unlocking position, and the rotated elements pass through the other during the locking movement in order to remove the check on the movement of the bolt. While this check is removed the bolt is moved to its locking position by the rotation of the key which operates the elements. Each locking disc 4 has two recesses 6, 7 in its periphery for the reception of the end 16 of the pivoted locking member 15, and two recesses 8 in which spring controlled detents 9 engage. The cylinder 2 which supports the discs is rigidly connected to an arm 10 having a pin 11 at its end to operate the bolt 12. An extension 18 on the member 15 has an opening 19 through which the pin 20 on the bolt 12 can pass when the end 16 is in the recesses 6 or 7. The bolt is shown in the open position in Fig. 5. When the key 27, Fig. 4, is inserted in the cylinder 2 and rotated, some of the discs 4 are rotated also and the member 15 is depressed while the end 16 rests on the peripheries of the discs 4. As the key turn continues the arm 10 depresses the plate 24 to release the bolt pin 21 from the slot 22, and the recesses 7 of the rotating discs are brought into line with the recesses 6 of the stationary discs. The spring 17 then raises the member 15 so that its end 16 is in the recesses, and the pin 11 on the arm 10 operates the bolt 12 to its locked position in which the pin 20 passes completely through the slot 19. Further rotation of the key and discs causes the end 16 to leave the recesses and the parts occupy the position shown in Fig. 6 when the key can be withdrawn. In the modification shown in Fig. 10, a number of angular sliding members 31 are operated by the key to cause the points 32 to engage in the slots of selected locking elements 4, which are then rotated by the key. Specification 424,120 is referred to.
