Locks, permutation; lock mechanism, operated by non-rotating key.-A bolt locked by rotatable discs entering notches therein is freed by rotating the discs to releasing position by adjustable elements of a key, the discs being set to correspond with the adjusted position of the key edements. A bolt 1 has notches 3. 3<1> - - in a reduced portion 1<1> on its lower edge engaged by discs 4, 4<1> - - having releasing notches for the bolt and toothed wheels 5, 5<1> - - secured to them, mounted on a spindle 7 with spacing rings 6 and pressed together by a spring 8. The toothed wheels 5, 5<1> - - are engaged by spring- pressed sectors 21, Fig. 2, or by spring-pressed straight or curved racks, so that pressure on the sectors or racks by key elements introduced through the key-holes 22 rotates the discs to bring notches therein in alignment with the bolt and allow the bolt to move. Cross-bars 9, 9<1> - - on a yoke 19 sliding on rods 20 on the casing are arranged between the discs and move with the discs to the right when a lever 10 is raised by the retraction of the bolt and the shoulder 16 comes in contact with the end disc. To change the combination the discs are moved to the right by retracting the bolt, thus taking the wheels 5, 5' - - out of engagement with the sectors. The key elements are then inserted to the predetermined amount and the wheels allowed to return to engage the sectors in the new position. The key elements are displaceable in a common casing and are adapted to be fixed in the adjusted position by screws, and may be provided with scales to facilitate adjustment.
