437,513. Sewing machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C., 65, Chancery Lane, London.-(Singer Manufacturing Co. ; Elizabeth, New Jersey, U.S.A.) July 1, 1935, No. 18725. [Class 112] The presser-foot of a sewing-machine is provided with hem-folding means which fold a perfect hem round curved cut edges. The presser-foot 7 has spaced toes 8, 9. The usual hemmer scroll 11 is soldered or otherwise secured to the toe 9. The scroll has a leading edge 12 extending spirally rearwardly between the toes. An arbor 13 is secured to the toe 8, the free end being directed backwards towards the needle aperture 10. The toe 8 is provided with a fabric-edge guiding wall 14 and a rearwardly and downwardly inclined fabricedge-deflecting shoulder 15. This shoulder deflects the edge 16 of the fabric, folded over the arbor 13 and guided by the wall 14, before the fabric is acted on by the scroll 11.
