Abstract

375,134. Sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C., 65, Chancery Lane, London. July 18, 1931, No. 24341. Divided on 372,626. [Class 112.] A detachable chaining-off finger projects above the throat plate in the form of a ridge 17 at its fixed end to support the fabric margin and is bevelled off at its free end 15 to lie flush with the throat plate. The rear wall of the needle slot 13 is bevelled at 14 to receive the finger. The finger extends in a slot 128 between two foot-plates 118, 119 carried by presser feet 114, 115. At the end 129 of the slot the foot-plates curve inwardly to form a guide which deflects the fabric margin beneath an auxiliary foot 130 mounted between the presser feet. The machine illustrating the invention is described in Specifications 372,626 and 375,135.
