Abstract

450,135. Sewing machines. FAIRWEATHER, H. G. C., 65, Chancery Lane, London.-(Greist Manufacturing Co.; New Haven, Connecticut. U.S.A.) Feb. 22, 1936, No. 5378. [Class 112] A sewing-machine guide plate is mounted on the presserfoot so that the braidguiding opening can be moved close to the needle hole. The guide block is secured by a rivet 13 which engages a slot 13<a>. The braid is guided by two fingers 24 extending beneath the guide plate. Open ended slots 16, 17, 18, 19 enable the edges of two pieces of work to be overlapped by different amounts. Various widths of tucks are obtained by sliding the guide plate laterally relative to the needle hole, the width of tuck being indicated by a scale 31. A scale 30 is of assistance in determining the distance between successive tucks.
