[Classes 75 (iii) and 75 (iv)] The handle of a miner's or like lamp is carried by a movable eyelet or eyelets directly connected to a member adapted to engage or be free of locating or locking means, provided on or in connection with the lamp, to enable the handle to be turned and retained in a desired position with respect to the lamp. In one form, the handle B, Fig. 1, is carried by eyelets A<1>, A<2> on a crosshead or plate A having a swivelling pin A<3>, which passes through a hole in the lamp top C and is secured to a plate or washer D. On lifting the lamp by the handle, the part D engages the lamp top to retain the lamp in the desired position. The lamp can be carried by a strap fastened to the end B<x> of the handle or fixed on a mine prop by means of the spiked end B<4>. In modifications, the part D is provided with teeth adapted to engage projections or recesses in the lamp top, and a knuckle joint is provided to allow for universal movement. In a second form, a single eyelet carries a slightly dished plate, serrated or gapped for engaging one or more projections in the lamp top. The plate may be replaced by a bar co-operating with notches in the lamp top. In a third form, the ends B<6> of the handle B, Fig. 7, project through eyelets A<5> on a rotatable ring R and co-operate with a serrated flange F <1>. In a fourth form, the eyelets A<6>, Fig. 8, are formed in a springy corrugated ring R<x> mounted in a recess G, the upper flange of which may be plain, serrated or provided with one or more projections G<1>.
