Abstract

435,291. Thermionic valves. M.-O. VALVE CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London, and MEGAW, E. C. S., c/o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. Aug. 21, 1934, No. 24133. [Class 39 (i)] In a split-anode magnetron, the anode supports are surrounded by conducting members which are maintained at a negative potential or are insulated and acquire such a potential from the discharge. If insulated, the members may be made of molybdenum to prevent secondary emission. In one form, Fig. 2, four graphite anodes 3, 4, 5, 6, are mounted on supports 16, 17, 18, 19 which are surrounded by molybdenum shields 24... 27 held on them by insulators 28 of silica or magnesia. The ends of the shields are covered by discs 35. The filament is tensioned at one end by a pair of members 8, 9 mounted on springs 10, 11 and passes through holes in a pair of shielding discs 13 which are mounted on supports 14 and may have biassing potentials applied to them. A magnetic field is applied parallelto the filament.
