435,141. Batteries. SOC. ANON. LE CARBONE, 37, Rue de Paris, Gennevilliers, Seine, France. April 9, 1934, No. 10678. Convention date, Dec. 12, 1933. [Class 53] A cell is provided with one or more auxiliary electrodes 5, 6 con nected to the principal soluble electrode 4 but not situated between the latter and the insoluble electrode 2. The electrodes 2, 4 may be of carbon and zinc and the auxiliary electrode 5 may consist of a zinc spiral resting on the bottom of the cell. The electrode 6 consists of a zinc cylinder concentric to the electrode 4. The arrangement is said to prevent the formation of an insulating film which tends to form on the principal soluble electrode 4. Instead of the cylindrical electrode 6 a wire or blade of soluble material may be electrically connected to the electrode 4 to form the auxiliary electrode. The electrodes 4, 6 may be connected together through a resistance 11.
