503,875. Electric batteries. BALBI, C. M. R. Oct. 18, 1937, No. 28375. [Class 53] A bipolar element for a dry battery comprises a layer of zinc applied to the surface of a carbon element. The zinc may be applied to the carbon electrolytically, by sputtering, by, volatilization or by chemical deposition, the carbon being in the form of flat plates or cylinders. The elements are separated from each other by insulating separators, the intervening spaces being filled with electrolyte and depolarizer. and the elements being so arranged that the carbon of one and the zinc of the adjacent one form a cell with the intervening electrolyte.
