Abstract

198,572. Fuller's United Electric Works, Ltd., and Fuller, L. June 21, 1922. Electrodes.-In a battery of dry cells or cells of the inert type particularly for use with thermionic valves each cell is in a separate insulating case which is oblong in plan, the electrodes extending across the whole width of the case in order to reduce the area of the active surfaces of the electrodes yet provide space for an ample quantity of active material. Fig. 1 shows a single cell, Fig. 2 being a plan. The dolly c is situated against one end of the casing a, the zinc electrode d being in strip form and having a horizontal portion at the bottom of the cell separated from the dolly c by wax e. The active material is shown at b. In a modification the dolly c is situated in the middle of the cell, the zinc strip d being of U shape having one vertical portion against each end of the cell.
