Abstract

482,948. Batteries. PREST-O-LITE STORAGE BATTERY CORPORATION. Oct. 5, 1936, No. 27009. Convention date, Jan. 17. [Class 53] Adjacent cells of an accumulator are joined together by a conductor 21 which passes through an opening in the partition 12. The ends of the conductor are tapered, the middle portion being of uniform diameter so that when the conductor is in position it compresses a washer 20 which is cemented in the opening of the partition. The terminal lugs 18 of the cells are welded to the ends of the conductor. The lugs may consist as shown in Fig. 6, of projections 18 formed on the bus-bars 17 and shaped to receive the ends of the conductor 21, or as shown in Fig. 7, the lugs 18 may be formed with apertures to receive the conductor ends. The accumulator casing and partitions may consist of an integral moulding and a single cover may be provided for all the cells, or separate covers may be used. Specification 460,656 is referred to.
