Abstract
339,799. Rosenberg, P. Nov. 28, 1929, [Convention date]. Cells; electrodes.-The outer metal casing 11 which also forms an electrode, of a battery is provided with a base 13 which is pressed into position and is made of a cresol- or phenol-formaldehyde condensation product. The casing may be formed with a bead 12 and a turned-in flange 16, and the base may be provided with a recess 14 for centering the inner electrode. As shown in Fig. 2, the base may extend beyond the casing and may be of hexagonal or other polygonal shape, the base in this case serving to separate the cell from adjacent cells in a battery. In order to enable a number of cells to be joined in series, end-to-end, a metal member 15, Fig. 4, may be soldered to the casing, or the latter may be closed by a metal plate 15, as shown in Fig. 5.
