Abstract

443,983. Batteries. GORDON, C. J., 10, Liberia Road, Highbury, London. Nov. 27, 1934, No. 34087. Addition to 423,301. [Class 53] An air-depolarized primary cell having one electrode of magnesium and a layer of fibrous material between the two electrodes and in contact with the air is provided with an electrolyte consisting of a solution of bromide or iodide of sodium or calcium or of potassium chloride or of a mixture of two or more of these substances. The fibrous laver between the electrodes may dip into the electrolyte solution or the dry electrolyte salts may be incorporated in the fibrous layer and moistened by vapour from water in a reservoir within the cell. The magnesium electrode may contain small quantities of aluminium and manganese. Specifications 423,353, 423,738, and 437,821 are referred to.
