Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise the Li ion conductivity of cell by using an alloy of Li and a divalent metal element as a negative electrode and also forming LiI with Li ion voids partially substituted with a divalent metal element at the interface between the negative electrode and positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:As the negative electrode active material 6, an alloy of Li and a divalent metal element, e.g., Li-Ca alloy sheet, etc., is used. The positive electrode 5 is made up of a charge-transfer complex composed of iodine-impregnated poly-4- vinylpyridine. And, when the negative electrode 6 comes into contact with the positive electrode 5, the LiI solid electrolyte 7 is formed by a chemical reaction at the interface between them. In the solid electrolyte layer 7, besides LiI, Li ion boids are formed from the substitution of Li ions present in the LiI lattice with Ca ions, whereby raising Li ion conductivity. The perferred divalent metal element used includes Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra, Zn, or Cd.
