[Classes 38 (i) and 53.] Connections to carbons.-A carbon electrode for batteries, resistances, &c. is provided with a metal cap comprising a cylindrical portion 1 provided with a number of slits, the metal between the slits being bent inwards as shown at 4 in Fig. 3. The slits do not extend to the top or bottom of the cylindrical portion 1, and they may be of the form shown at 5 or 6 in Fig. 4, which represents a portion of the cap before the metal is bent inwards.
