449,624. Batteries; couplings. EVER READY CO. (GREAT BRITAIN), Ltd., Ever Ready Works, Hercules Place, Holloway, and SHEPPARD, A. H., Beechwood, Broad Walk, Winchmore Hill, both in London. Jan. 10, 1935, No. 876. [Classes 38 (i) and 53] The cells of a dry battery are connected in series by wires 1 connected to the carbon electrodes 3 and having their free ends bent to bear transversely across the side of the zinc container of the adjacent cell. The wires are not soldered or otherwise mechanically joined to the zinc containers but are pressed against them by the partitions between the cells as shown in plan in Fig. 2. Figs. 5 to 8 show various forms of the wires 1. The wires may be soldered to the metal caps on the carbon electrodes or they may be wound round the projecting portions of the carbons as shown in Fig. 8. Fig. 10 shows an alternative method of joining the wires to the positive electrode in which the wire is embedded in the depolarizing mixture. The carbon rod may in this case be omitted.
