620,858. Batteries. BLACKMAN, W., and PRICE, J. R. Jan. 27, 1947, No. 2465. [Class 53] The electrodes 5, 6 of a battery are located in separate compartments 2, 3 connected by a capillary tube 8. The battery may be of the Leclanche type, the electrode 5 consisting of amalgamated zinc, the other electrode being of carbon surrounded by manganese dioxide 7, the ammonium chloride electrolyte being common to both compartments and filling the tube 8. The output current of the battery is small being limited by the resistance of the liquid in the tube 8. The tube 8 is screwed into the two compartments of the battery and may be replaced by other tubes of various diameters. The electrolyte is covered with paraffin oil 13 and the compartments are sealed with pitch 11 through which pass vent tubes 14 and terminal sockets 12.
