384,546. Galvanic batteries. IONIC ALKALINE BATTERIES, Ltd. and BERG, C. J., 26, High Street, Stratford, London. May 10, 1932, No. 13416. [Class 53.] An electrode for a storage battery having an alkaline electrolyte consists of metal receptacles made of two perforated metal strips folded over at their edges, the receptacles being filled with active material and also containing a metal strip or ribbon which is gripped at the edges between the two parts of the receptacle and which is provided with slits between which the metal is pressed out so as to project into the active material. The Figure shows a receptacle comprising a channel-shaped member a and a cover b, the edges of which are folded over the member a: Within the receptacle is a metal strip c, the edges of which are gripped between the edges of the members a, b. Portions d cf the strip c are pressed out to form projections which are embedded in the active material which is filled into the pocket. The parts are assembled by passing the part a through a machine which feeds the active material and the strip c simultaneously into the part a, the part b being then applied while its edges are beaded over the edges of both parts a, c.
