[Class 53.] An electrode for an accumulator employing an alkaline electrolyte comprises a perforated metal container made in two parts A, B and containing active material E in layers separated by perforated flat metal strips D. The edges of the strips D may be turned up to form flanges, and the perforations in the strips may be formed with burred edges as shown in Fig. 3. Fig. 5 shows a modification in which the strip D is formed with flanged portions d<2>, d<3> projecting in opposite directions.
