428,998. Valve gear. BUCKLEY, A. B., Dorchester House, Park Hill, Carshalton, Surrey. Oct. 5, 1934, No. 28596. Addition to 394,562. [Class 7 (vi)] The head adjustably screwed into the tappet and connected to the valve stem so as to allow of relative rotational, but not axial movement, as described in the parent Specification is, according to the present invention, formed as a separate member 8 which has a head 8<c> engaging the tappet, and a cup portion 8<a> to receive the end of the valve stem 2. The end of the valve stem, which is hollowed out at 3, is surrounded by a split collar 9 which holds the valve stem and member 8 together axially, and is pressed into engagement with these parts by a coned upper end 11 engaging a coned part of the valve-spring washer 12. The coned part 11 of the collar 9 is chamfered away at opposite sides, or the coned part may be elliptical in cross-section. In a modification, the member 8 forms the upper end of a push rod, and the valve stem rests upon a distance piece placed in the bottom of the recess.
