[Class 7 (vi)] [Also in Group XXIV] In valve gear wherein a cam acts directly on a tappet, wear of the tappet B is reduced by causing it to be rotated by the action of the cam thereon, the peak C<1> of the cam, for this purpose, being cut away at one side C<2>, so that the peak is offset from the axis of the tappet. The whole cam may also be slightly offset as.shown.
