[Class 94 (i)] A square-angled package of bread, cake, biscuits, &c. is formed by wrapping the article or articles twice of more times with a single sheet of wrapping material, e.g. waxed paper. A double wrapping is effected by the use of three intermittently rotating wheels 7, 7<1>, 7<11> having pockets 4, 4<1>, 4<11>, for receiving the partially wrapped package. A plunger 3 thrusts the article 1 with the sheet of paper 2 into the pocket 4 at position A, the short flap 5 being folded over the outer side by a sliding member 8, and the long flap 6, which is to form the second wrapper, being folded thereover by a member 10 as the package moves to position B. Here one pair of end flaps 13, 14 are formed by sliding folders 11, 12, while the flap 17 is folded over them by a rotary member 15, the final flap 21 being folded down by a member 22 as the package moves to position C. Spring- pressed elements 18 on the folder 11 clamp the hanging flap 6 while the flap 13 is folded, so that tears are made at the adjacent points 20. The overlapping portions of the wrapper may be sealed by heating at position C, and at position D the package is transferred to the wheel 7<1>. The second wrapper 6 is folded over the outer side by a member 24 as the package passes to position F, and over another side as it is transferred to the third wheel 7<11>. A member 27 completes the folding of the second wrapper about the package during its passage to position H, and the end folds are made and may be heatsealed in the same manner as those of the first wrapper.
