Abstract

1,125,388. Packaging stockings. "BEGY" SOC. EUROPEENNE DE BAS SANS COUTURE. 7 Dec., 1965 [8 Dec., 1964], No. 51938/65. Heading B8C. In a package for stockings, each individual rolled or folded stocking is enveloped in a wrapper comprising an opaque portion carrying inscriptions and/or designs, and at least one transparent window. The wrapped stockings are then enclosed in separate pockets of flexible transparent material which are detachably joined together in a continuous strip. In the embodiment, a rolled stocking 16 is wrapped in a tubular wrapper 24, made from a paper sheet 26, glued at its longitudinal edges to a transparent cellulose sheet 28. These packages are then either placed in open-ended pockets 14 formed by heat sealing two transparent sheets, or a single folded sheet, together along one longitudinal edge 20 and transversely at 22, the filled package being closed by sealing the second longitudinal edge. Alternatively the packages 24 may be placed between two sheets or a single folded sheet before the welds 20, 22 are made. The transverse welds 22 may be perforated along their mid sections to facilitate separation of individual stocking packs.
