Abstract

1330662 Readily operable packages DEKNATEL Inc 18 Sept 1970 [3 Feb 1970] 44655/70 Heading B8C A four-sided package comprises two opposed layers 1 (2, Fig. 2) of sheet material joined at the margins thereof to form a sealed compartment 3 for a wrapped suture 5 or a suture needle or a dressing or a bandage or a pill, and one or two tear-initiating areas in each of the shorter edges of the package. Each tear-initiating area may comprise a plurality of elongate weakened areas, slots 9, slits, perforations or notches extending from the shorter edges towards the sealed compartment 3. The package may be rectangular, as shown, or have curved shorter edges and straight longer edges (Fig. 4). The spacing between the slots 9 &c. is no more than “the length of the shorter sides. The sealed compartment may be formed from two separate sheets, a single sheet folded double or from tubular stock. One of the sheets may be of transparent material.
