448,059. Packing cigars. SYLVANIA INDUSTRIAL CORPORATION, Fredericksburg, Virginia, U.S.A. Feb. 9, 1935, No. 4240. Convention date, Feb. 9, 1934. [Class 94 (i)] A cigar or a number of cigars are enclosec in a transparent wrap per 2 of cellulose o other material having a grain with the ciga or cigars at righ angles to the grain and a narrow band bearing' an indication or design 4 is disposed beneath the wrapper parallel to the grain with a tab 7 protruding through the longitudinal seam 5, 10 to serve as a tearing strip, the usual cigar-band or bands being dispensed with. The band may be applied to the wrapper before or during the wrapping operation and secured thereto at the seam or throughout its length by heat-sealing or by adhesive. The rear end of the band may be further secured by folding around the enclosed end of the wrapper. The longitudinal edges of the band may be folded to give increased strength. Notches 8, 8<1> may be made in the edge of the wrapper to facilitate tearing. The wrapping material may comprise regenerated cellulose, cellulose derivatives or plastic substances such as gelatin, casein, and polymerized vinyl compounds. Specification 408,056 is referred to.
