Abstract

496,517. Wrapping-machines. FORGROVE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and BROOK, L. Aug. 24, 1937, No. 23181. [Class 94 (i)] Relates to a machine of the kind described in Specification 396,212*, for folding wrappers around tablets, in which a wrapper d, Fig. 1, is fed by a tablet c in between gripping-elements a, b, on a wheel carrier which rotates to bring the wrapper and tablet into a number of positions where the folding of the wrapper is completed. According to the invention, one of the jaws b, of each pair of grippers is provided with a blade-like extension b<1> which is adapted to project down one side of the tablet and enables one end d<1> of the wrapper to be folded over the outer side of the extension in close proximity to the side of the tablet. When a tablet and wrapper has been inserted in the grippers, the short side d<2> of the wrapper is folded on to the tablet by a folder e, and the movement of the grippers from position I to position II causes the long side d<1> of the wrapper to be folded by a stationary folder e<1>. At position II, the side d<1> is folded on to the extension b<1> by a tucker f<1>, while a bifurcated tucker f forms the first tucks in the projecting ends of the wrapper. The ends are then tucked down in the known manner in the subsequent steps shown in Figs. 6 and 7. The folds and tucks are given a final pressing at position III, and the wrapped tablet is ejected at position IV.
