Abstract

Phosphates are solubilized by heating them at 1200 DEG C., with such quantities of alkali and silica that an alkali tricalcium phosphate is formed, and the free lime present is converted into a complex alkali calcium silicate. Preferably the complex silicate approximates to a eutectic mixture. In the case of sodium for instance its composition may be 72,5 CaO.Si O2 . 27,5 Na2O.Si O2. An example of procedure is given. The silica may be replaced by titanium oxide.
