Abstract

Silica paste to be moulded into bricks contains also caustic lime, water-soluble caustic alkali, preferably caustic soda, and iron oxide or magnesium oxide to promote the conversion of quartz into tridymite. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the example 93 per cent ground quartzite, 1 per cent sulphite pulp lye, 3 per cent sodium lye containing 33 per cent NaOH, 2 per cent milk of lime, and 1 per cent iron oxide. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
