Porous compositions.-A heat insulating material is made by mixing lime and aluminium sulphate in an excess of water. Oxide or hydroxide of barium may replace the lime, and other sulphates such as iron sulphate, the aluminium sulphate. The temperature, of reaction may be varied to vary the properties of the product. Fillers such as kieselguhr, asbestos or magnesia, and stiffening agents such as gypsum, may also be added. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that silicofluorides in solution or water glass may be added. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
