Abstract
425,169. Pressure-relieving devices. THOMPSON, J. L., Burnage, North Park, Iver, Buckinghamshire. Sept. 8, 1933, No. 24943. [Class 135] An expansion chamber for sealed tanks or casings containing liquid has a bellows-like wall 1, the lower end of which is closed by a rigid metal plate 3 with a centrally arranged upward extension 4, the upper end 5 of which terminates at a short distance from the upper closed end 2 of the chamber and to which the supply pipe 7 is connected. The bellows may be cylindrical or slightly tapering as shown. The annular rings forming the bellows may be flat, grooved or corrugated. The rigid plate 3 may be supported on rods 9. In a modification the rigid support 3 consists of a thick circular plate on which is mounted the extension 4, 5 and has a central hole through which the pipe 7 passes.
