Abstract

1303387 Pipe joints SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 19 April 1971 [5 March 1970] 22939/71 Heading F2G Joints between vertical pipes 3 in a furnace and its top wall 1 each consist of a tube 5 secured to the wall and having at its upper end a flange 6 upon which rests a two part ring 7a, 7b with supporting shims 10 engaging a shoulder 8 fast with the pipe. Packing 11 is inserted between the flange 6 and the shoulder 8 to fill the space between each pipe 3 and its tube 5, being retained at the bottom by a separate shoulder 9 on the pipe. The packing 11 may be asbestos, &c. The pipes 3 can be readily removed from the furnace.
