Abstract
478,603. Thermometers. POTTS, H. E. (International Hydrogenation Patents Co., Ltd.) Aug. 19, 1936, No. 22797. [Class 97 (iii)] A casing C containing thermo-elements E and protruding into the high pressure space within the reaction vessel A of a plant for the hydrogenation of carbonaceous material is connected with alarm devices or pressure measuring devices F which detect leakages through the walls of the casing C. As shown, the casing C is double walled. The space between the two walls may be filled with hydrogen or nitrogen at a pressure only slightly ,different from that within the vessel A so that the outer wall need only be made of thin material. The casing C may however comprise a single walled tube closed at the bottom and tightly fixed at the top to a moulded piece through which the leads to the thermo-element pass by a construction similar to that in a sparking plug. The casing C may be braced in the operative position by means of chains or guide rings.
