Abstract
423,714. Safety razors. LARSEN, C. C., 28, Amagerbrogade, Copenhagen. Aug. 2, 1934, No. 22563. [Class 30] In a double-edged safety razor in which the resistance to shaving causes the handle 7 to yield transversely of the cutting-edges and impart a longitudinal movement to a bladeholder 4, the latter slides on parallel guides 3 of a head 1, and the upper end of the handle is secured to a block 6, slidable between transverse guides 5 on the head. The block 6 yields transversely in either direction against centralizing coil-springs 9, acting on the block through wire-loops 10, slidable on pins 8, and the transverse movement is communicated to the blade-holder 4, either by a pin 23, on the block, engaging an inclined V-shaped slot 22, Fig. 3, in a part of the holder, or by a bellcrank lever, pivoted on the head. The blade is clamped flexed by turning an end-knob 12 on a handle-plunger 14, the squared upper end of which engages a squared socket in a flanged clamping-nut 16, 17, 18, rotatably retained on the blade-holder 4 by a lower plate 20, secured to the holder by screws, and also being provided with the inclined slot, above referred to, for engagement with the pin 23. The handle-plunger 14 can be rotatively retained on the handle in two positions by means of an annular spring 13, so that it can be withdrawn out of engagement with the clamping-nut.
