Abstract

Stropping - apparatus.-A safety razor has a two - edged 'blade 16, one edge only of which is in co-operative relation with the guard 8, the blade being carried by a holder plate 10 normally housed in a recess in the guard from which it can be raised and rotated in a plane parallel with the guard to bring either edge into cutting position. Fig. 6 shows the plate 10 so raised and rotated half-way. The blade is clamped in place by a cover 17 hinged to the guard. When the parts are clamped, the edge of the blade which is out of use is in contact with a stropping roller, or, as shown, is between two such rollers 24, 25 respectively carried by the guard and cover. Roller 25 is pressed downwards by a plate spring 27. The rollers may have plain or grooved surfaces and are provided with intermeshing gear wheels 29, 30, rotary movement for stropping purposes being given by means of a milled head 28 on one of the roller spindles.
