Abstract
418,260. Stripping or cleaning carding- engine cylinders. PRINS, J., 19, Oranienstrasse, Rheine, Westphalia, Germany. Nov. 22, 1933, No. 32616. [Class 120 (i).] In a device for stripping or cleaning the cylinder and doffer of a carding engine of the kind in which a cleaning roller 4 is mounted in a pivoted support and is movable by a lever system so as to engage either the carding cylinder 1 or the doffer 2, a stripping roller 5 is provided to strip the fibres and impurities from the cleaning roller 4, the support 12 for the latter being adapted to rock about the shaft 13 of the stripping roller 5. The rollers 4, 5 are geared together and are driven from the cylinder 1 by a belt 14 while the roller 4 is engaged either with the cylinder 1 or with the doffer 2 by a hand lever 3 and a link 16. A bell crank lever 17 secured to the link 16 engages a pin in a slide 9 which normally closes an aperture 8 in the cylinder casing so that when the lever 3 is rocked to move the roller 4 into engagement with cylinder 1 the slide 9 will be moved to admit the roller 4 into the aperture 8. The cleaning roller 4 may be guided in slotted segments having adjustable positioning screws. The waste removed by the roller 5 is drawn into a suction chamber 6.
