Abstract
417,594. Heating feedwater ; heating ships. GUY, H. L., Thornhill, Hale Road, Hale, Cheshire, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. March 6, 1933, No. 6775. [Classes 64 (i) and 64 (ii).] In a steam turbine driven locomotive, steam is taken at 10 for the train heating system from the locomotive boiler 4 through a reducing valve 12 and also from an intermediate point in the turbine 6 through a non-return valve 14, and steam is led from the same intermediate point to a feedwater heater 3. Feedwater is first heated at 2 by the turbine exhaust through a pipe 8 and then in a second stage 3 by the steam led through a pipe 9 from the intermediate point. The feed-heaters are surface heaters or of injector type. The reducing valve 12 is set at a lower point than that of the intermediate point in the turbine.
