Abstract
411,754. Heating feedwater. WIENER LOCOMOTIV - FABRIKS AKT. - GES., 57, Br³nnerstrasse, Vienna. Nov. 21, 1933, No. 32528. Convention date, Nov. 25, 1932. [Class 64 (i).] A feedwater heater for a locomotive boiler 1 is composed of ribbed tubes 6 arranged above the smoke-box. The flue gases leaving the boiler tubes are separated from the blast pipe 3 by a partition 7 so that they pass through the feedwater heater from a to b. The two parts of the heater before and behind the smoke-stack 4 are connected by pipes for the flue gases on each side. In a modification, Fig. 2, the gases pass from the smoke-box 2 back over the tubes 6 to another smoke-box 8 and thence to an inclined smoke-stack 4. In another construction for large locomotives, the heater may be in two parts, one on either side of the smoke-stack, projecting partly into the smoke-box. In other alternatives, the heater may be at the side of or below the boiler.
