Abstract
415,143. Cathode ray tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Blyth Road, Hayes, Middlesex, and McGEE, J. D., 9, King's Avenue, Ealing, London. Feb. 23, 1933, No. 5608. [Class 39 (i).] In a cathode-ray tube with the screen 7 disposed at an acute angle to the mean direction 8 of the ray and with two sets 9, 11 of raydeflecting means at different distances from the screen, the set 11 nearer the screen 7 comprises a pair of plates so shaped and disposed that the ray is deflected to scan a keystoneshaped area in a plane normal to the axis 8, and so a rectangular area on the screen 7, when saw-tooth oscillations of constant amplitude and frequency are applied to the set 9 and similar oscillations to the set 11. The plates 11 may be rectangles on opposite sides of the axis 8 and in planes inclined to each other so as to intersect in a line 13 below and parallel to the axis 8. The set 9 comprises parallel rectangular plates. The screen 7 comprises a fluorescent layer on a glass plate for use in television receiver or a photoelectric mosaic for use in transmitters, the image being received or projected from the side of the screen facing the cathode ray. The anode 5, the focusing electrode 4 and the modulating electrode 3 around the cathode 2 are cylinders of equal diameter. In a modification, the plates 11 are trapeziums in parallel planes.
