Abstract
443,788. Cathode-ray tubes. WILSON, J. C., and BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., 58, Victoria Street, Westminster. Sept. 5, 1934, No. 25552. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode-ray tube in which the angular deflection of the ray is proportional to the deflecting field and which is used with a generator of deflecting oscillations of non-linear wave-form so that the angular deflection of the ray is not proportional to time, has the surface on which the ray impinges so curved and positioned that the displacement of the point of impingement at right angles to the undeflected ray is proportional to time. A tube used with an oscillator in which a condenser is charged through a resistance has the end wall to which the fluorescent material is applied curved away from the electrodes as shown at 4. The curvature may be in one sense only if the ray is deflected in one direction only, or in two senses for television scanning. The Provisional Specification describes also tubes in which a plane screen is inclined to the axis of the tube and normal to the ray at one end of a scan so that the angle of incidence of the ray on the screen changes as the ray is deflected and the displacement is made nearly proportional to time.
