[Class 80 (ii).] A braking effect between a rotating bushed wheel a and a fixed shaft c is produced by forming the bush b of porous metal made by fritting together metal powders or metal powder mixtures in a high-frequency field, and supplying lubricant under a pressure exceeding five atmospheres through passages d, e in the shaft to the bush. The end faces and the outer surface of the bush are sealed. German Specification 405,880 is referred to. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, fluids other than lubricating oil, or a mixture of air and oil, may be used, and it is stated that a clutching effect between two rotatable members may be produced by supplying fluid under pressure to porous metal bushes or discs, and that capillary membranes, separated by thin mica rings, may be stacked in the oil supply pipe for the purpose of transmitting pressure without flow. This subject-matter does not appear in the Speoification as accepted.
