412,910. Cigarettemaking machines. UNIVERSELLE CIGARETTEN-MASCHINEN-FABRIK J. C. MULLER & CO., 48, Zwickauer Strasse, Dresden, Germany. Sept. 30, 1932, No. 27223. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 3, 1934]. [Class 130.] In machines of the continuous-rod type in which the tobacco is fed on to the paper strip from the hopper, a more uniform feeding of the tobacco is obtained by means of endless bands e, f having their adjacent runs arranged over the paper strip b and inclined to form a V which gradually opens towards the outlet end of the paper strip. The bands e, f are guided at the inlet end by rollers g, i arranged to give the V-form, and at the outlet end by rollers h, k having their axes more or less vertical. Side rails may be provided to support the bands between the two sets of rollers. Where the bands leave the rollers h, k, scrapers u, u<1> and air-blast nozzles v, v<1> are provided to remove adhering tobacco. In a modification, the bands e, f maintain the closed V-form for a considerable distance, and the paper strip b is not led under them until near the end of the run.
