Abstract
412,562. Two- and four - stroke engines. JAMESON, J. L., Elland, Hemmingford Road, Cheam, Surrey. Dec. 23, 1932, No. 36510. [Class 7 (ii).] Combustible mixture or air is compressed within the piston on one or both sides of a stationary abutment d, and transferred to the working cylinder by way of a port c in the piston wall, ports f, f<1> in the cylinder wall, ports i in a hollow slidevalve hand through a port o controlled by a piston valve n. The abutment is secured by a lateral projection d<1>, traversing the piston and cylinder ports, and formed with a ring d<2> clamped between the upper and lower halves of the cylinder block. The valves are reciprocated from a shaft l within the housing 2 which also forms a charge reservoir. A section 4 of the slide valve of smaller diameter than the remainder permits passage from the inlet 3 to the ports f. The compression space x, the diaphragm u and the valve n may be omitted.
