Abstract
360,088. Two-stroke engines. WHITE, A. E., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.-(Doherty Research Co. ; 60, Wall Street, New York, U.S.A.) Aug. 14, 1930, No. 24338. [Class 7 (ii).] In a compound engine valves 52, 54 control the transfer of gases from the high pressure cylinder 10 to the low pressure cylinder 14 ; the transfer duct 56 is also used as the air admission passage, the flow being controlled by a valve 58. The air is supplied at the maximum pressure of the cycle by the chambers on the undersides of the two pistons acting as a two-stage air pump.
