Abstract
373,921. Four-stroke engines. OTT, E., 22, Parker Street, Auburn, New York, U.S.A. Oct. 27, 1931, No. 29705. Convention date, Dec. 27, 1930. [Class 7 (ii).] A compressor 18 driven by an exhaust turbine 17 supplies air through terminal ports 8, 14 at the end of each induction stroke, a depression being produced within the combustion chamber 3 or 9 before the valve 20 or 21 opens. Air also enters the cylinder through the valves 5, 11 in the heads, this air coming either direct from the atmosphere or from the compressor. Air may also be admitted through the valves 5, 11 and/or the ports 8, 14 at the ends of the expansion strokes. The valves 20, 21 may be mechanically actuated or automatic.
