Abstract
411,692. Supply systems for vacuum &c. lamps. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. July 3, 1933, No. 18822. Convention date, July 2, 1932. [Class 38 (iv).] A lighting installation comprises a number of sodium vapour discharge tubes 9 in series and a device such as a variator 17, arranged so that the variations in the current traversing the discharge tubes, expressed as a percentage, are at the greatest twice as large as any voltage variations occurring in the source. The installation may be fed from a polyphase rectifier 5. The discharge tubes employed preferably have incandescent cathodes 10 with dimensions such as to produce an air discharge with no positive column. These cathode circuits may be connected in parallel through transformers 12 and supplied from a separate transformer 8. Resistances 19 may be provided to facilitate starting.
