Drawings to Specification. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XX] In a device for taking or projecting kinematograph films in which one or more cooled highpressure metal vapour discharge tubes having contracted discharge paths are connected in circuits set forth in Specification 489,787, the proportions of the impedance 4 in series with the discharge tube and of the condenser C in series in the supply are such that an uninterrupted current flows through the tube. By this means the illumination from the lamp varies but does not drop quite to zero, whereby the life of the lamp is prolonged. A shutter may be provided when wide variations in luminous intensity of the lamp do not occur. Specific values of the circuit constants in a particular example are given in the Specification.
