Bildfilmanlage.
Image film system. The invention relates to a picture film system, that is to say a device for recording or reproducing picture or picture sound films, in which at least one cooled hole pressure metal vapor discharge tube with a constricted discharge path is used as the light source. The use of cooled high pressure metal vapor discharge tubes with a constricted discharge path, preferably liquid-cooled high pressure mercury vapor discharge tubes for projection purposes is known and has proven to be particularly suitable.
Such tubes have a gas filling and in operation a mercury vapor pressure of advantageously greater than 6 atm, z. B. 150 atm., And are provided with at least one glow electrode that protrudes only slightly from a surrounding mercury or amalgam containing, evaporable metal mass. With such a discharge tube, a surface brightness of 20,000 lnt. fi / em 'and more, e.g.
B. from 80,000 to 100,000 Int. g / cm 'and more can be achieved and the spectral composition of the light is sufficient for the conditions to be set for a perfect projection. Such an Ent discharge tube also has the property that its light emission curve with appro ned feed, z.
B. with alternating current, dark periods of such a duration that they can be used advantageously to BEZW the advancing movement of the film along the film window during projection. to make invisible during the recording, so that a diaphragm arrangement respectively. a locking device can in principle be dispensed with.
It has already been proposed (Swiss Patent No. 197874) to include a high-pressure metal vapor discharge tube in a circuit which contains a branch, the first branch of which has a rectifier, the second a series circuit of an impedance, expediently a self-induction, and the discharge tube, wherein the one branch point with the one terminal.
the other junction point via a capacitor whose charging takes place via a further impedance, expediently a controllable ohmic resistance, which is connected to the terminal of an alternating current source. Among other things, this circuit can be achieved by a suitable choice of the various electrical quantities, practically any desired duration of the dark period that comes into consideration for the present purpose.
The present invention, which relates to a picture film system in which such a circuit is used, is based on the knowledge that the service life of the high-pressure metal vapor discharge tube used depends on the manner in which the current flows through the tube.
According to the invention, a practically adequate service life can be achieved in that the capacitor and the impedance recorded in the branch of the discharge tube are dimensioned in such a way that an uninterrupted, pulsating current flows through the tube. In contrast, it has been found that a considerably shorter service life results if the passage of current is periodically interrupted. In this case, however, the ignition voltage increases, which is due, among other things, to the reduction in ionization in the discharge space.
This can result in premature destruction of the tube. In addition, to maintain a certain average illuminance in a circuit with dark breaks, it is necessary that the discharge tube has a higher light intensity during the exposure time, that is to say carries a stronger current than would be necessary for its average light intensity. It is precisely these differences in the currentless period (dark pause) and the period of high current consumption, which follow in quick succession, that shorten the service life of the tube considerably.
The minimum value of the tube current strength in the picture film system according to the invention is expediently chosen such that the light emission of the tube is periodically so low that the image can be seen during this period without this being noticeable on the screen, so the use of a screen is fundamental can be superfluous.
It has been found that for a flawless projection it is not absolutely necessary that the light emission is completely zero during the image change. Rather, for physiological reasons, a "pulling" of the image is not noticeable if during this process the light intensity on the projection wall falls below a certain value that is dependent on your maximum value of the exposure intensity.
If necessary, especially if not with; large changes in light intensity is worked, z. B. in smaller systems, an aperture can be provided, in addition to a longer life of the discharge tube, a certain power saving is obtained.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the two figures.
In Fig. 1, the circuit diagram of the exemplary video film system is shown. In Fig. 2, the current and voltage curves of the various branches of this circuit are recorded.
In Fig. 1, the terminal 1 of the alternating voltage source e, which can be formed by both the usual ge city network and a transformer, connected to a capacitor C. The other side of the capacitor is with a rectifier tube G and an adjustable resistor was h? connected. The second terminal of the resistor R is connected to the other terminal of the voltage source e.
Parallel to the series connection of rectifier tube G and resistor R is a branch which is formed by an impedance L and a discharge tube E: The resistor R can also be between points 2 and 4 and 5 and 6 be arranged. Points 7 and 8 are the branch points.
The circuit works as follows. When the terminal 2 is positive, the capacitor C is charged to a certain potential through the resistor P because the rectifier tube G lets the current through in this direction. If the two terminals 1 and 2 change their polarity, a total voltage occurs at the discharge tube, which is the sum of the capacitor voltage and the mains voltage. This means that discharge tubes with an ignition voltage that is higher than the highest voltage of the alternating current source can be ignited using the circuit according to FIG. 1 and kept in operation.
The effect of the circuit according to FIG. 1 is illustrated in more detail in FIG.
The curve denoted by 9 represents the voltage curve of the alternating current source e. When the voltage has reached the point 10, which corresponds to the breakdown voltage of the rectifier tube G, on curve 9, the rectifier tube G comes into effect, so that the capacitor C is charged. It depends on the size of the capacitor and the resistor R limiting the charging current whether the capacitor is charged to the highest achievable value, that is to the maximum voltage 12 of the AC voltage.
In this circuit, the resistor B is selected in such a way that the capacitor voltage, which is denoted by 11, actually comes close to the maximum voltage of the alternating current source.
The capacitor retains its charge because the rectifier tube does not let any current through in the opposite direction. When the Spannurig -der StröriiqueIle deü has reached its maximum value at 12, it decreases again, so that a voltage difference occurs between the two branch points labeled 7 and 8 (FIG. 1), the instantaneous value of which is shown schematically in FIG. 2 by the lengths the concurrent lines of the hatched part is indicated.
Between points 7 and 8, the discharge tube E with the upstream throttle L is closed. When the voltage for the first time after switching on the photo film system the value of the ignition voltage 18 from the discharge tube, e.g. - at 14, it is enough, the lamp lights up, which is indicated schematically by the current curve 16 beginning at point 15 is. The capacitor is now discharged through the tube, which is indicated by curve 17.
At point 18, the voltage difference between points 7 and 8 in the circuit of FIG. 1 is zero. The current flowing through the discharge tube is not zero at this moment, however, because the current in the choke L lags in a known manner in relation to the applied voltage between points 7 and 8 and the self-induction voltage generated at the choke lags the tube current can entertain for a short time in decreasing strength (19, 20, Fig. 2). In the meantime, the rectifier tube at 21 has come back into operation.
At point 22 there is again a growing voltage between points 7 and 8 .. This means that the tube current between points 20 and 23 no longer decreases to the same extent as between points 19 and 20 and even increases again at 23.
This process is repeated periodically with a frequency equal to that of the feeding alternating current. If the capacitor is dimensioned sufficiently large, it will only be discharged relatively little each time. that is, the voltage drops only a little (curve part 17) and if the throttle is correctly dimensioned, it is possible to maintain the current until the voltage between points 7 and 8 increases again and there is another increase in current Point 23 results. The tube then does not extinguish.
The larger the value of the self-induction L and the capacitance C is chosen, the less the current drops periodically. In the above-mentioned circuit, the capacitor C, the rectifier tube G and the reactor L function as a rectifying circuit, of which C and L form a flattening device. The larger the value of the capacitor and the impedance, the smaller the AC voltage ripple of the rectified current.
If the maximum value of the ripple voltage is greater than the DC voltage, the current is periodically interrupted: if this is lower, the current flows continuously.
The capacitor C and the impedance I are dimensioned in such a way that the maximum, vert of the) voltage voltage is smaller than the direct voltage component of the rectified current, i.e. the current through the tube E flows uninterruptedly.
The following values have been used for one device: mains voltage (effective) e - = 500 V, mains frequency f = 50 Hertz: ignition voltage of the discharge tube E = 500 V; mean tube current I = 2 amps; Capacity C = 30, ccF; Self-induction L = 2 to 3 Henry: Resistance R = about 10 to 100 ohms.
The service life of the tube in this case was about 10 times longer than when it was fed with an interrupted current.
