Abstract
427,293. Discharge lamps. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Nov. 9, 1934, No. 32299. Convention date, Dec. 11, 1933. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] In discharge tubes containing mercury and cadmium in such quantities that their vapours are unsaturated during normal operation, the weight of cadmium is 4-15 per cent, preferably 7-10 per cent, that of mercury, so that the light produced does not distort natural colours. Details are specified for a straight alternating- current tube with an incandescent electrode at each end and operating with a constricted high-pressure discharge, the tube containing argon at 5 mms. pressure at room temperatures and the weight of cadmium being 8 per cent that of mercury.
