[Class 144 (ii).] A tyre-carrying rim 2 is attached to the wheel by a split ring 5 wedged between the coned periphery 3 of the wheel 1 and the cylindrical surface 13 of the rim-base by means of clamps 14 and bolts 16. To prevent creeping, the ring 5 may be formed with a slot 20 to receive a stud 21 on the wheel, and the rim-base may be formed with a rib 22, Fig. 3, positioned between the ends of the ring 5. In the case of twin-rim devices, to facilitate assemblage of the inner rim, the outer rim-seat is formed of lesser diameter between which and the main locking-ring 5 a separate spacer-ring is fitted.
