Abstract
477,243. Vehicle wheels. HURLIMANN, H. March 17, 1937, No. 7857. Convention date, Aug. 25, 1936. [Class 144 (ii)] Pneumatic tyres, particularly of large-section, low-pressure type for use on tractors and like vehicles, are clamped between the rim flanges and a sectional security-ring fitted between the tyre-edges, the ring being locked against circumferential movement on the rim, but axially-movable thereon during assemblage and use. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the sections of the security-ring 4 are formed with tee-shaped lugs 5 engaging corresponding slots 3 in the wheel-rim. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the wheel-rim is formed with lugs 14, 15 engaging slots 13, 16 in the security-ring 14 and detachable flange 17 respectively. In a further modification, the security-ring is formed with axial slots engaged by radial bolts secured to the rim.
